Summer summary

It's now Fall and it's another Seattle summer in the books. This post serves as a bit of a looooong pictorial summary of our goings on the last few months, for posterity's sake (did I mention it's long?). The following are a bunch of pics taken on the fly with our iphones, many of which y'all may have already seen on Instagram.

After a long and beautiful summer of watching a lot of baseball,

both the rains and football season are upon us.

Nothing better than hikes in Seattle summers. Out to Issaquah,

and around the Washington Arboretum,

and Seward Park.

Evening whiffle,

and lots of catch along the water.

Jay's first summer on earth and he's grown quite a bit

He never met a piece of food he didn't like.

He's a pretty happy guy most of the time.

And there's nothing he likes more than being outside.

Out and about in the city, down at Pike Place,

contributing to the gum wall,

and up the Columbia Tower,

at the boardwalk,

at Alki Point,

and on the Great Wheel.

Visiting dear friends,

and receiving dear friends.

Lots of time at our two favorite places: Lincoln Park,

and Alki Beach.

And a little Seahurst Park.

The kids did another round of swimming lessons,

and Ada had karate lessons.

We had a week at Cannon Beach to spend with Lindsay's family,

And a long 4th of July weekend with dear cousins in Newport, OR.

Whenever I saw Ada and Lucy,

or Seth and Sam together,

I heard that song "Reunited" in my head. (The one by "Peaches and Herb"--google it).

Definitely a highlight of the summer.

We had several other fun daytrips about our Northwest environs, including to Snoqualmie falls,

where I saw one of the coolest sunsets of my life,

the waterfall mist diffusing the orange light all around us.

We spent a day at Deception Pass

and another out on Bainbridge Island.

We made it out to a couple Mariners games too.

The kids had a great summer,

although we still spent more time at work than anywhere else

Best of all,

we saw

more beautiful sunsets

than the kids

ever cared to ever see.

But

I

never

get

tired

of

them.

They are my favorite thing.

Especially when I get to see them with my favorite people.
